Sponge painting creates an even texture over splotchy paint.
Painting the interior walls of a building allows you to dictate the base color and feel of the room. However, hiring a professional painter can be quite expensive. Many people choose to paint walls on their own, saving money but risking unattractive mistakes. One commonly made painting mistake is leaving the wall splotchy and uneven. Fortunately, you can even out splotchy interior paint with the use of just a few simple supplies for a professionally painted appearance.
Instructions
1. Put on rubber gloves and prepare the area to be painted. Lay plastic sheeting over the floors and remove any furniture from the area.
2. Open the windows and doors of the building to ventilate the area while painting.
3. Dip a sponge into interior paint that is the same color as the splotchy paint on your walls. Make sure one side of the sponge has an even coating of paint on it.
4. Press the sponge onto the splotchy areas of the wall repeatedly to coat the wall.
5. Continue dipping the sponge into the paint and pressing it onto the walls to cover the splotchy areas. As paint wears off the sponge, work toward the outward edges of the splotchy areas. This creates a thinner layer of paint on the edges, blending it with the existing wall paint.
6. Allow the interior paint to dry for 24 hours and repeat the process with a clean sponge if any splotchy areas remain.
