Making blueprints online frees avoids the inconvenience of installing drafting software.
Several online Web applets allow you to make blueprints for your prospective home. Some of these applets have tools that display a simulated 3-D view of the home for you to tour. When making blueprints for your home, be sure to consider the needs of all its occupants, especially those with disabilities. For example, you might want to keep the house design confined to a single story. Also, consult residential zoning regulations before building the design specified in the blueprint. Making blueprints online makes short but fun work of a project that used to require a degree in architecture to complete.
Instructions
Architect Studio 3-D
1. Open the Architect Studio 3-D site, and click the "Skip" link to avoid the Flash intro.
2. Click the "Design Studio" link, followed by the "Enter" link on the next page.
3. Click the "Begin" link on the next page, then click the "Close" button on the information screen with Frank Lloyd Wright's image. Close the remaining information screens in the same way. They're not needed to create your blueprint.
4. Click the forward and reverse arrows to browse through client types, then choose a client by clicking the "Choose" button.
5. Browse through potential house locations in the same way you browsed through clients, then click the "Choose this" button for the location you want for the house.
6. Click a floor plan on the next screen, then click the "Interior" link above the drawing area. Drag labels like "kitchen" and "bedroom" right onto the drawing area.
7. Click the "Walls" tab above the right pane, then click the "Draw" button. Drag your mouse where you want to define the interior walls of the house.
8. Press the "Shift," followed by the "Print screen" key to capture the blueprint's image.
9. Paste the image by opening up Windows Paint or other painting program, then pressing "Control-V." Click your paint program's printing tool to complete the printout of your blueprint.
Floorplanner
10. Surf to the Floorplanner main page, then click the "Demo" link at screen top.
11. Follow the prompts to log into the applet, then click the "Start" button at screen right. Click the "Create" button on the next screen to display the actual drawing area.
12. Click the leftmost icon under the "Construction" palette, then drag in the drawing area to define the house's exterior walls.
13. Click the "Construction" palette's third icon from the left to select the wall-drawing tool, then drag within the house walls you defined in the previous step to define your house's interior walls.
14. Click the printer icon in the upper right corner of the drawing area to print the blueprint of your home.
Homestyler
15. Open the Homestyler start page, then click the "Gallery" link to open a window displaying a gallery of existing home blueprints you can modify.
16. Click a plan's "Copy" button to load it into the Homestyler applet.
17.Click on any of the plan's walls, then drag it to reposition or resize the wall.
18. Draw new walls by dragging them from the "Add Interior" subheading in the palette to the left of the drawing area.
19. Print your blueprint by pressing the "File" menu's "Print" command.
