Turn a favorite digital photo into a wall mural.
Turning your digital photo art or a photograph of the landscape of your favorite vacation spot into a wall-sized mural is relatively simple, thanks to large-scale digital printing. There are printing companies that specialize in custom interior wallpaper printing, some of which operate online, and some that are brick-and-mortar printing companies that serve their local communities. Custom mural wallpapers are faster and easier to install than it would take to paint a custom mural and that has photographic results.
Instructions
1. Select the picture you want to use for your wall mural. Files should be at least 1 MB in size for the best results.
2. Measure the wall(s) you want to cover with the mural.
3. Select a company that makes wall murals from digital photographs. Some companies that offer custom wall murals online include Artistic Homeowner, MegaPrint and Power Graphics.
4. Upload or deliver your digital photo to the printer as directed by the company and give them the exact wall dimensions.
5. Unroll your mural wallpaper when you've received it. Hold the panels up to the wall to see how they fit. Lay the panels face-down on a tarp-covered floor. Starting on the left side of the wall, mark a straight chalk line where the first panel will hang.
6. Apply a thin layer of wallpaper adhesive to the back of the left panel. Allow the pasted panel to sit for several minutes.
7. Lift up the panel from the top of the design. Line it up against the left corner of the wall, aligning with the chalk line. Press the panel flat against the wall from the top down.
8. Rub the surface of the mural panel gently with a damp sponge to push out any air bubbles.
9. Repeat the process of pasting and hanging the panels from left to right until the mural is complete. Trim the edges with a utility knife where necessary.
