Animal prints help liven up an African-themed bedroom.
Africa is an amazing continent full of exotic wildlife, breathtaking vistas and fascinating cultures. It is no surprise that some people would want to decorate their private bedrooms to feature an African theme. Fully redecorating a bedroom takes time, effort, planning and money to buy new furnishings. However, once you have all the pieces in place, the feeling of waking up in the grasslands of the Serengeti is more than compensation.
Instructions
1. Hang up wild animal prints wherever you can. Animals with striking natural designs such as the giraffe, zebra and cheetah are both beautiful and invoke the untamed wilds of Africa. Pillow covers, rugs and blankets are all excellent ways to incorporate your favorite style of animal print into the bedroom.
2. Place stylized African art pieces on the walls and shelves for an authentic, eclectic style. Some examples of common African knickknacks include wooden tribal masks and fake hunting trophies. Never buy real ivory, as this encourages the hunting of elephants and rhinos in Africa.
3. Hang paintings and photography inspired by Africa on the walls. A framed print of a sunset against the great Mt. Kilimanjaro or a gorilla holding its young can make a powerful statement.
4. Paint the room with earthy brown and red tones to emulate the colors of an African village. Detail the neutral tones of the walls with bright, vibrant furnishings that feature stripes of color.
