Destroying car paint can be done fairly easily using many different methods. Destroying the paint on someone's car is illegal and is punishable by hefty fines and possibly jail time.
There are several ways to destroy car paint using common household items. These items can destroy the paint from the surface down to the bare metal, resulting in serious damage. With these methods the only way to rid the car of the damage is with a completely new paint job.
Destroy the Surface of the Paint
Spraying or wiping something onto the car is the easiest way to destroy the paint. Many household items can be used for this. Shaving cream sprayed onto the paint will leave permanent discoloration everywhere the cream is placed. Shoe polish drawn onto car paint will result in the same type of discoloration. Silly string and mustard can remove the paint from a car if they are left on long enough to dry on the surface.
Brake fluid poured onto a car's painted surface can severely damage the paint, leaving marks everywhere the fluid drains. This can leave stripes in the paint. Paint stripper works in the same manner as brake fluid when poured onto the paint. A strong chemical paint stripper will remove the paint down to the bare metal.
When using these products, the only way to repair the paint is to strip the car down and completely repaint it.
Heavy Damage
There are other methods of destroying car paint that damage not only the paint, but the surface of the car. Digging lines deep into the surface of the car can cause enough damage to have to strip the paint, sand down the gouges and then repaint the area or the entire car, depending on the coverage of the lines. Sharp points are needed to do this. The most common object used is a key. Other objects that can cause deep damage are straight razor blades, screwdrivers, paint scrapers or other types of solid metal tools. Using a sander to sand the paint away damages the paint so that it must be repainted.
Another way to destroy paint is to allow concrete to dry on it. Pouring freshly mixed concrete onto a car and allowing it to dry can cause major damage. The concrete will have to be chipped off and will destroy the paint in the process.
Myths About Destroying Car Paint
There are many myths about ways to destroy car paint. Placing bologna slices on a car is rumored to eat away at the paint, leaving spots everywhere the bologna is placed. This is not true. Even leaving the bologna on the car overnight and in the sun will not cause discolored spots. There will be greasy marks on the car, but they can be washed off.
Another rumor is that vinegar poured onto a car can cause discoloration. This is not true. Unless the vinegar is very acidic and left on the car in the sun for a very time, it will not destroy car paint.
