Several different websites-including ArchitectureStudios3D, SmallBluePrinter.com and Google Sketchup-provide a range of tools to build virtual three-dimensional houses and rooms online. Many people use these tools for recreation, while others use them to plan the actual construction of a house. With these free online tools, you can usually customize everything from your house's outside structure down to the placement of furniture.
Instructions
1. Visiting websites such as ArchitectureStudio3D.org or FloorPlanner.com that allow you to build virtual houses. Complete any free registration steps required before creating a virtual house.
2. Click the button that contains a "Start a New Plan" or similar label to be taken to the house-building graph. Choose the "client" and "location" before building your house if using ArchitectureStudio3D's website.
3. Draw your three-dimensional house platform and walls to create your house's structure. Select a pre-designed house floor plan from the "floor plan" section if using ArchitectureStudio3D.org to build your house; select from the "house height," "exterior materials" and "roof" option to complete the outer structure. Use the "draw room" icon in the "Construction" box to build the outside of your house if using Floorplanner.com. Click the "draw room" icon and click anywhere on the graph to start drawing your house's exterior.
4. Create walls in your three-dimensional house to section off areas that don't need complete enclosures, such as hallways, kitchens and foyers. Click on the "walls" drawing tool under the "Interior" sub-heading if using ArchitectureStudio3D.org. Click and drag your mouse anywhere in the house to draw walls. Use the "erase" tool to get rid of any mistakes. Click the "draw single wall" icon in the "Construction" box if using Floorplanner.com. Click once anywhere on the graph to start drawing a wall, extend the line to the measurements you want, and right-click and choose "finish line" to complete the wall.
5. Make your three-dimensional house complete by filling it with furniture and other structural elements such as stairs, windows and doors. Search through the furniture categories and repositories to find all kinds of house furniture. Find furniture in ArchitectureStudio3D in the "furnishings" section under the "Interior" sub-heading. Find furniture on Floorplanner.com in the "Library" box under the categories for each room in the house. Click and drag each of the furniture pieces to the places where you want them to set in your house. Use the rotate tool to position the furniture.
6. Walk through your three-dimensional house to see what you created. Modify any options that you want to change. Click the "Tour House" button in the top right-hand corner of ArchitectureStudio3D or the "3D" button on the Floorplanner.com graph to switch to the three-dimensional views.
