Fatigue often happens while painting for long time periods or at angles.
Moving your hand in the same pattern repeatedly can cause hand fatigue. Hand fatigue could feel much like a tingling sensation in your hand or like your hand is falling asleep or going numb. Changing your stroke pattern, your brush or the way that you are holding your arm could help prevent hand fatigue. Some paintbrushes today have ergonomic rubberized handles to help fight hand fatigue. No matter if you are painting a picture on an easel or painting a house, there are things you can do to help prevent hand fatigue.
Instructions
1. Paint in a relaxed position when possible and take frequent breaks.
Paint with a brush tapered to a sharp edge. These brushes are engineered to make painting easier. Ergonomic rubberized handles help to reduce hand fatigue while painting.
2. Paint with a paint brush that features a short ergonomic handle that is easy to use and fits easily into tight spots.
3. Use a painter's tray when painting on an extension ladder to help fight hand fatigue. By placing the paint in the tray, your hand is no longer holding the paint can for long periods of time, causing the strain of fatigue.
4. Place a pillow under your elbow or forearm if you are painting small items like pictures or items where you are sitting down to paint with your elbow bent for long extended periods of time. Offering your arm an "armrest" can help reduce fatigue.
5. Use a 4-inch paint pad. The pad not only holds three times more paint but it will help prevent fatigue. The paint pad will also help prevent dripping and splashing of the paint. This is a plastic short, broad handle that is designed scientifically to produce fatigue.
