Spray paint flowers to give them unique colors.
Spray painting your flowers adds excitement to your sculptures and arrangements. Nature limits the colors available naturally but with paint you are limited only by your imagination . Spray paint or food color even lets you match colors to your decor or wedding colors.
Instructions
Spray Painting
1. Lay your flowers on several layers of newspaper.
2. Hold the spray paint 6 inches away from the flower.
3. Spray one flower at a time in short, even bursts. Ensure you cover it thoroughly.
4. Let dry for 30 to 45 minutes. You can add a second color to certain petals by repeating the above steps.
5. Place the floral foam in a soaking container. Add water and floral preservative. You need to have enough foam to fill your final container and leave 1 to 2 inches sticking out above the rim. Soak until thoroughly saturated.
6. Tape the foam in your container using waterproof tape.
7. Add your spray painted flowers pressing them firmly into the foam.
8. Add your decorations and greenery. Use the floral tape and wire to attach the decorations to the sculpture.
9. Layer with moss or more greenery to cover your foam.
Dye Method
10. Put floral preservative in a vase.
11. Fill the vase with lukewarm water. Leave a couple inches of space at the top.
12. Add several drops of food coloring to the water and mix with a spoon.
13. Cut flower stems at a 45 degree angle.
14. Place flowers in water and arrange. It will take several hours to a couple days for the flowers to change colors.
