A mural is a great way to liven up a baby's nursery.
Painting a mural on a child's wall is a special way to bond with your little one. American murals have long been seen as token symbols that punctuate the passage of circumstance and time. You can simplify the painting of a mural by using a rented or borrowed projector, and there is no artistic ability required. Interior house paint will not damage the wall, and it is easy to paint over using an ordinary interior primer and house paint. Paintbrush type is also important, because the use of natural-bristled brushes provides ease in smooth paint application.
Instructions
1. Find a coloring-book image of the Noah's ark story that you would like to paint. Place a piece of transparency film on the image and trace the image in permanent marker. Turn on the projector in a darkened room.
2. Cast the image on the wall where you want the mural to be. Change the size of the image by moving the projector away from the wall or closer to the wall until the image is the right size. Trace the outline cast on the wall in pencil.
3. Paint inside the lines of your mural. Do not paint over the pencil outlines and details such as the pupils and smile lines. Keep the blank outline spaces as neat as possible.
4. Paint Noah and his wife with white hair and rosy cheeks because they were very old but healthy. Use the warm brown color for the ark, for the animals and for belts and shoes. Use the golden yellow and soft red paint for the animals and for Noah's wife's clothing.
5. Use the dusty blue color for Noah's clothing, and then mix some dusty blue paint with white for the sky. Mix some of the golden yellow paint with white for the terrain if the picture is of Noah leading the animals into the ark. Mix golden yellow with dusty blue to make green for the terrain if the image is of Noah leading the animals out of the ark.
6. Make colors for the rainbow by mixing paint colors. Mix the warm yellow with a very small amount of red for orange, and mix the yellow with a very small amount of blue for the green. Order the rainbow colors by using red for the top, and follow with orange, golden yellow, green and then dusty blue.
7. Use gentle, even brush strokes with ample paint loaded in the brush, but do not use so much paint on the brush that it is dripping during use. Feather the brush strokes together immediately after you make them. Feather strokes together by drawing your brush lightly over the surface between the strokes in the same direction as the previous strokes.
8. Use a fine-tipped brush to paint the outlines and detail lines of your image using the dark brown paint. Paint slowly and carefully, making sure the brush is never dripping wet during use. Allow the paint to dry completely.
9. Go over any mistakes carefully with the correct color of paint. Let the correction paint dry for a day. Go back over the spot the next day if the mistake is still visible.
