You can turn any room into a jungle habitat with the right kind of wall design. One that works well is a funky reed pattern. It’s bold yet still subtle enough to accommodate all your jungle wall art. You can paint a reed pattern on a wall, wow your friends and start playing the bongo drums with a few simple steps.
Instructions
1. Pick your paint color. Green is the most obvious shade for reeds, but it comes in a variety of hues. Brown or deep gold will also work, depending on how funky you want your jungle to be.
2. Get your list of supplies, which should include three different widths of painter masking tape. This tape is specially designed to stick to walls long enough for painting but remain removable.
3. Empty the room, clean the walls and apply a primer if necessary. Place drop cloths over everything you don’t want paint splattered on.
4. Randomly tape the walls in vertical patterns, leaving plenty of blank space between reeds for the paint and varying the width, length and angles. Some reeds should connect, some should not. Let some flow to the ceiling while others are chopped off mid-wall. Also apply tape around the borders where you don’t want paint on the baseboards or ceiling.
5. Apply paint using a combination of roller, brush and sponge for a textured effect. Use as many coats and thicknesses as you think look cool.
6. Allow paint to dry for at least one hour then pull off the tape. Wow!
