Marks on a wall are painted over after cleaning them.
Marks on the walls are common when there are young children in the house. The children start coloring on the walls with their markers, pencils or crayons. Once the marks are on the wall, painting over the walls requires removing the marks as much as possible because the paint might not stick to or cover the marks.
Instructions
1. Spray WD-40 on any oily marks. Oily marks come from oil paints or crayons and are not always easy to get off. Scrub the mark with a sponge and it should come off.
2. Dip a cleaning toothbrush in some water and add a drop of dish soap to the top. Scrub pencil and color-pencil marks with the dish soap. Scrub gently with the toothbrush. Pencil and color-pencil marks should come off. Wipe with a clean, damp sponge to remove excess water.
3. Spray or apply rubbing alcohol to marks left by markers. Rub with a paper towel to remove the mark. Any marks on the wall should either be completely cleaned or faint.
4. Apply a primer or sealant to the wall. Usually, primers or sealants are painted on using a paint brush or a paint roller. These are necessary to prevent any remaining marks from showing through the paint.
5. Paint the walls. If painting only the marks, use a matching paint and paintbrush and paint the marks and area around the marks with fluid lines of paint. Dip the paintbrush in the paint and wipe the excess paint on the side of the paint can. If painting the whole wall, cover the floors with floor coverings and tape around the windows. Pour paint into a paint tray and roll a paint roller into the tray. Roll the paint onto the wall.
