If you look online for games specifically designed for girls you will find cooking games, Barbie games, adventure games, puzzle games, and sports games all made with females in mind. But what if you or your daughter are more artistically inclined? Worry not. There are games for you, too. For the more creative girls among us, there are also different kinds of games which reward an interest in arts and crafts, from home decor to painting to design.
Art Games
There are many painting and coloring games you can play online for free. Coloring games are generally online versions of a coloring book, with black and white line drawings already made that you can color in whatever shades you like. Choose from a wide range of subjects to color, from Hannah Montana to Mario to various fantasy animals and other creatures. Some games, however, offer more chances for free expression. "ArtPad" allows you to paint in a semi-realistic way. Choose the size of your paint brush, the opacity and the colors of paint; you can even add text. "ArtPad" allows you to undo what you have done or replay so you can see how you did it. You can also hang your artwork in the gallery or watch how others made their masterpieces.
A different kind of "painting" game is "Mr. Magorium's Toy Creator". While you do choose the color for your creation, the intent is to make your own personal toy in whatever way you like. Choose from a list of toy templates, including dolls, teddy bears, cars, robots and alien creatures. Then pick out and color all the features, flip, reset, change the background, and, if you like what you've made, export the picture.
Actually more of a physics game than an art game, "Magic Pen 2" will probably appeal to those with an interest in art. You use a crayon to draw shapes and figures to help push your little red circle across the finish line.
Design Games
If you are interested in home and room decorating, there are many online games that give you a chance to flex your skills. There are a great many room-designing and decorating games. Choose to redo your bathroom, bedroom or entire house. You can also design your own businesses. "Restaurant Design"--featured on the Games2Girls website--is a simple Disney game in which you create your own nightclub. You choose lights, tables, snack bar and reception area furniture, and can then fine-tune the colors to suit yourself. "Hello Kitty Room" asks you to decorate your room with the proper beds, desks, lights and rugs, all with a Hello Kitty theme. "Christmas Tree Decorating", also at Games2Girls, takes you in a different direction. Here, you must decorate an enormous Christmas tree with balls, wreaths, reindeer and candy canes, and even have to settle on a place to leave some cookies and a nice cup of coffee for Santa. If clothes are more your thing, try "My Vampire Dress" in which you deck a model out in Gothic, Victorian-era style clothes, fingerless gloves, stockings, jewelry and hair styles. And with "Design Your Own Bag" you can mix styles and colors to create the ultimate bag.
