Parents will find features at certain Ohio hotels to keep children occupied.
Children don't like to be housed in a hotel with nothing to do. It's boring to them. Fortunately, throughout the "Buckeye State," hotels are catering to children with a long list of activities, games and special children's suites. Ohio includes cultural big-city hubs, such as Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus. Northern Ohio is home to outdoor activities along Lake Erie.
Great Wolf Lodge, Mason and Sandusky
The suites at Great Wolf Lodge hotel locations in Mason and Sandusky are designed for children. In the Wolf Den suite, children sleep in an in-suite cave that has buck beds, a television set and video-game system. Inside the Kid Cabin suite, children sleep in a larger in-suite log cabin with bunk beds, day beds, televisions and video-game systems. The Kid Kamp suite is only available at the Mason location. It's an in-suite replica of a tent with a bunk bed, television and a video-game system inside. Both hotels have indoor water parks, video-game arcades, children's story time sessions and restaurants. The Mason location is 25 miles from the Newport Aquarium in Newport, Kentucky and 24 miles from the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. Coasters Sports Bar and Grill is less than half a mile away, and Perkins Family Restaurant is about half a mile away. The Sandusky location is 17 miles from African Safari Wildlife Park and 11 miles from Lagoon Deer Park. Max and Erma's Restaurant and Eastern Buffet are less than half a mile away.
Fort Rapids
At the Fort Rapids Resort in Columbus, children receive free admission to the hotel's indoor water park. The water park features 12 rides, a 1,000-gallon tipping water bucket, activities and a video-game arcade. Children also receive free gifts and invitations to special activities, such as parties and storytime sessions, through the hotel's Kids Club. The children's accommodations at Fort Rapids include the Cisco Kid Bunkhouse Children's Suite, which has a bunk bed and includes four passes to the water park. Dining options at the resort are the Branding Iron Grille, Copper Star, Canyon Cafe and DB's Sidewinder Cafe. Nearby off-site restaurants are Tommy's Pizza at about a half-mile away and Ichiban Japanese Steak House at one mile away. The Columbus Zoo is about 20 miles away, and Ohio State Fairgrounds is about eight miles away.
Holiday Inn
The Holiday Inn location in Strongsville has a game room that is equipped with a Nintendo Game Cube video-game system, pool table, air hockey table, television and DVD player. Children eat free at the hotel's on-site restaurant, the Simmering Pot. Nearby dining options include Palmer Grill and Dibella's, which are both located about half a mile away. The hotel has an indoor pool and Internet service. Across the hotel's parking lot is an ice-skating rink. SouthPark Mall, which has an indoor miniature golf course, is located a half of a mile away.
