Mix The Colour Of Interior Fresh paint

Mixing paint creates a custom look.

Your leftover paint doesn't have to go to waste in your basement. Mixing your own colors at home can be daring and give you control over your color scheme, if you're up for it. Not only does mixing your own paint give you the color you want, but it is environmentally friendly. You can mix different brands of paint together, as long as they have the same base -- oil or water. Just avoid using any old cans of paint that have become dried or lumpy.

Instructions

1. Calculate how much paint you need for the room or item you are painting.

2. Open your leftover paint cans. Stir the paint with a stir stick.

3. Decide which colors you want to use. Use a color wheel to find out what color will result from mixing the paints you have.

4. Mix the colors a little at a time to experiment. Continue adding paint until you get a color you are happy with.

5. Put a spot of your new paint color on a white card. Paint stores will be able match this color if you run out.

6. Pour the paint through a paint strainer and into a 5-gallon bucket. This filters out any dried paint or particles that could mar your paint job.
