Suggestions For Children'S Kids Birthday Parties In Your Own Home

A birthday party at home provides an affordable venue for children of all ages and can be just as exciting as a birthday party held at another kids' venue. If crowds put your birthday child on edge, then the comforting surroundings of home may ease some of his anxiety. Having a variety of activities at your home birthday party can keep the kids engaged and make the event memorable.

Craft Stations

Craft stations allow children to choose their preferred activities. They also allow the children to spread out if there are a lot of kids at the party. Some ideas for party crafts include bead bracelets, masks, puppets, finger painting or theme-related crafts. Have an adult at each art station to provide directions for the kids and assist with the activities. You can set each station up in a different room or different area of the house so the kids stay focused on what they are doing.

Dress-Up Party

Dress-up activities engage children and allow them to use their imaginations. If you desire, have the dress-up clothes match the theme of the party. Organize the dress-up clothes by size or type to allow the kids to find their own outfits. Ask friends and family members for old clothes or kids' costumes to add to the selection. Halloween costumes are generally sold at a significant discount after the holiday, making it an ideal time to stock up on dress-up clothes. Masks and props also add a fun element to a dress-up party at home. Set up a stage area where the kids can show off their costumes. Encourage them to create a skit based on their costumes. If the costumes center around a particular theme, provide a backdrop relating to the theme to encourage dramatic play. For example, provide a cardboard castle for a princess-themed dress-up party, allowing the kids to pretend they live in the castle.

Bounce House

Bounce houses are available for rental from many party stores. A bounce house in the backyard will keep the young guests entertained throughout the party. Check with the rental store to verify the space requirements for the bounce house rental to ensure your backyard can accommodate it. Also, check with the rental store on the maximum number of children allowed in the bounce house at once. Divide the kids into groups based on the limit, identifying each group with a color or number. Allow one group to enter the bounce house, timing them to ensure all of the kids have equal time to bounce. Provide bubbles, balls or a simple craft project, such as finger painting, for the kids who are waiting for a turn in the bounce house. Allow the next group to take a turn in the bounce house after a designated amount of time. Continue rotating the groups through the bounce house. Assign an adult to supervise the bounce house at all times to ensure the safety of the guests.

Carnival

Transform your backyard into a carnival for a guaranteed fun birthday at home. Booths with carnival games allow the guests to choose their activities, keeping everyone happy and entertained. Try games such as ball toss, football throw, putting hole and ring toss. Face painting and a balloon animal station also provide entertainment for the carnival party guests. And for even more carnival fun, hire a clown to perform for the kids.
