Use paint for more than just crafts. Most girls love to play games. By incorporating paint into a game, you not only appeal to girls' fondness for games but also to the joy they get from painting and creating. Any girl who can paint can participate.
Makeup
Many girls watch their mothers, sisters or other people apply makeup. Create a painting game using a face for the girls to play as if they are applying makeup. Doll heads, paper dolls, papier mache faces, paper plates and dolls work well as canvases. Provide the girls with patterns to re-create and lists of designs to paint, or time them to apply the makeup. Select winners, like most creative or best use of color, to add some competition to the games. By using paint, the girls get to play as if they are using makeup without actually using it or spreading it on their faces.
Painting a Room
Turn repainting a girl's bedroom into a game. Painting a room takes time and energy many parents may not have. Dedicate one wall or a section of a wall to the girl. She can try to paint it in a certain amount of time or to create a pattern in a set time. Depending on how big the room is and how many girls are in the house, create a contest to see who can paint her area the fastest.
Computer Paint Programs
Many computer programs exist that allow players to "paint" designs and pictures. Rather than simply opening up the program and telling the girl to draw whatever she wants, set up games. If the computer sits in an area easily viewable by many, use the program for Pictionary. The girls draw a picture written on a piece of paper and others try to guess it. You can also challenge the girls to create certain patters or pictures, or even to create a "new" color.
Created
Girls often create their own games. Provide them with paint, paper, paintbrushes and other materials to set up a game of their own creation. Suggest that they modify their favorite games to include painting. For example, if the girls like to play memory games, they could create matching sets of cards out of the paper and paint.
