You can use GIMP to create a digital representation of space.
You can use GIMP, the free graphic design program, to create a digital image replicating space. Whether you want to create a realistic representation or something out of a science-fiction thriller, you can insert supernovas and stars, professional-looking color gradient backgrounds, photographs and more. You can use GIMP's presets and paint coloring tools to create a customized, yet polished, graphic of space.
Instructions
1. Launch GIMP and create a new workbook by clicking on "File" and "New." The "Create a New Image" box will appear; select a "Template" or insert customized dimensions for your workbook, and then click "OK."
2. Select the "Blend Tool" located in the main toolbox. Once you click on the icon, the settings of that tool will appear at the bottom of the toolbox. Click on the "Gradient" preview box to view the menu of options. Select a space-like theme such as "Deep Sea" or "Skyline." Double-click in one corner of your workbook and drag your cursor across the screen to apply the gradient
3. Insert a supernova by clicking on "Filters," "Light and Shadow" and "Supernova." A pop-up box will appear to show you a preview of the filter and let you adjust the settings as desired. Click "OK" when the positioning, color and radius are to your liking.
4. Add a "Hidden Planet" effect by clicking on "Filters," "Light and Shadow" and "Gradient Flare." Click on the "Selector" tab and select "Hidden_Planet." You may also be interested in "Distant_Sun" and "Bright_Star." Click on the "OK" button when you are satisfied.
5. Paint "Sparks" across the backdrop as desired. Click on the "Paintbrush Tool" and the corresponding settings will appear at the bottom of the main toolbox. Click on the "Brush" preview and select the orange-and-yellow "Sparks" head. Click your cursor down in the workbook anywhere you want to add a space-inspired sparkle object.
6. Save your space creation by clicking on "File" and "Save As." Give your file a name, followed by the picture extension of your choice such as ".jpg," and press "Save."
