Decorate your game room in a fun and sophisticated style to appeal to children and adults. The exact decor you use should reflect the people who use the room most often, the games that are played there and your idea of sophisticated decor. For example, a child's game room or family game room would likely be decorated differently than an adult's game room with a poker table or pool table. Instructions
1. Choose a theme or color scheme for your game room. This could range from a Tiki bar or tropical theme, country club, casino, vintage, sports or your favorite board game. The color scheme and theme will go hand-in-hand.
2. Paint the walls of the room in a color that fits in with your theme. Beige, burgundy, dark green or white work well. These colors can add a touch of sophistication and provide a backdrop for other elements you plan to include in the room. For example, burgundy walls and dark wood are commonly found in traditional home libraries and country clubs. White walls work for a vintage or modern room.
3. Furnish the room with game tables, seating and storage. For example, a table that can be used for board games and poker games could benefit the entire family. A bar can be a sophisticated addition. Shelves or cabinets should be included to house media, board games or other accessories. Seating, such as bar stools or comfortable chairs can have dark leather or smooth velvet upholstery.
4. Adding curtains and a rug that tie the theme or color scheme together will add a touch of class to the most basic game room theme. For example, hang red curtains against white walls for a casino, vintage or modern theme that includes red, black and white. Use a black and white checkered rug for the same color scheme.
5. Hang artwork or pictures on the walls. Black and white pictures of old movie scenes, such as the "Rat Pack" pool table picture could add nostalgic class to a pool table or casino-themed game room. Neon signs or pictures of classic cars could spruce up a vintage theme. Large decals of poker chips or playing cards can be hung or even framed for a casino theme. The well-known dogs playing poker or pool pictures could work for a casino or country-club type of game room.
6. Accessorize the room with items related to the theme or color scheme. For example, candles, vintage soda machines or classic model cars could line the wall or fill shelves. Neutral accessories, such as houseplants, small house trees and lamps should also be included.
